A golden hue by AngelaClaytonCosplay A golden hue by AngelaClaytonCosplay
I have to post this because oh my god that lighting. All of my respect goes to Anna Fischer on how stunning this picture is.

I would like to apologize for my face. It was 90 someodd degrees, 80% humidity, and I was wearing wool. Needless to say, my makeup melted off a little bit.

Everyone thinks I'm dressed as a pirate when I cosplay Napoleon, so I decided to go with it and get some photos on the USS constellation, which is docked in the Baltimore inner harbor. I had two shoots on the ship, one of them was a joint shoot with ~UxiCosplay (who is gorgeous and looks like a little doll, it was so nice getting to meet her.) Our costumes didn't match, but we did get some photos together which will probably be posted somewhere... eventually. And the other one was a half video/half photography shoot, which was more focused on the scenery than me, but that's okay, the scenery was more interesting than me.

I also got pictures outside and in front of the ship...lot's of ship related stuff here...I hope you guys like ships

Anyway! The costume is made and modeled by me, you can construction notes here: [link] or here: [link]

Photography by Anna Fischer, you can see this "full size" on her flickr: [link]

The character is Napoleon Bonaparte from the game Eiyuu * Senki and was designed by ~oyariashito

You can see this costume in live action over here: [link]

Fun story about this photo, my mother actual found this before me (think she has been stalking Anna's flickr because she seriously told me about it a few minutes after it was uploaded) and said: "Aw, Angie, you look so pale...and peaceful...like a corpse" Thanks mom. Because 'dead' was totally the look I was going for. My mother isn't the best at giving compliments...

Not gonna lie, I totally thought this was a really badass female pirate version of Donald Duck. lol (I've never heard of Eiyuu, though, otherwise I would have recognized it.) Either way, this is insanely awesome!

I saw this on Anna's flickr and I just love it! I really wanted to go on the ships for pictures in my pirate costume after Ackson gave me the tickets from when he went earlier in the day (maybe with you?) but none of my photographer friends would brave the heat with me! Super sad now that I see how beautiful the inside/lighting was.

Oh thank you! You know, this was taken on Saturday evening, so the weather and lighting was much nicer then it was on Friday when it was blazing hot(there was actually a breeze..ah!).

That's to bad you didn't get a chance to go, maybe next year?

She did didn't she! Aw, thank you. Yeah I think it was the hat and sword (not pictured) which really makes it looked pirate themed. Oh well, I like pirates, I don't mind being mistaken for one.

Pfft your welcome

So by sword are we going cutlass, rapier, claymore ? [Last cause cute girls and big swords are hot.] Yea Johnny Depp and Rum makes it such a sought after profession.

I scream like a teenage boy band fan in ya general direction!

It's kind of wonky looking since I modeled it after the in-game apperance, but I believe it's a rapier. I'm not sure if you can see this, it's a terrible picture and I know I'm holding it wrong here, but thats what it looks like: [link] ^^

I'm not sure myself...though I'm sure I have friends I could throw that at and they would analyze the hell out of it...then I yell "Renaissance nerd!" then they say "Damn right!"...almost as bad as Dickens faire people's....usually the same people.

Anyways thanks for sharing ^_^
also it may be fuzzy, but it;s still a picture of you and there for gains squee points.

Very lovely, everything in this shot just works, your expression is nice and compliments the warmth of the lighting (coudos on keeping that lovely expression with that humidity and heat in a wool coat) You look gorgeous, and your costume does too.

Oh and I have to say your wig looks phenomenal you did an excellent job combining and curling two wigs together. Great job can't wait to see more form you.

Oh gosh, thank you very much! I didn't hold the expression for very long, I think Anna just managed to capture a moment of peace in the hellish heat haha.

Thanks! The wig was really easy, just somewhat time consuming to maintain. ^^

Actually, your outfit is similar to French Naval officers in the Napoleonic era.
[link]

So, you could pass yourself off as a naval pirate captain. :)

Anna made good use of ambient light here. :)

You are certainly interesting. The ship's background in Acklson's video is just a background until he directed your presence through it. The background was icing on the cake. You were most definitely the star. Didn't you say once that your mother was a former model (or had some modeling experience)? I think you've inherited some of that talent. Keep at it. You are a rising star in the cosplay world.

Your mom is amusing. Parents are like that sometimes. lol

Haha, well the character is Napoleon Bonaparte, so yes it is similar to that! The crew on the ship told me I was to well dressed for a pirate...But I think people get happy when they see a pirate, so I just let them think I was a snazzy looking pirate.

I think the background was more interesting than me, but It makes me happy to know others feel differently! Haha, I wouldn't quite say rising star, but I suppose my name is out there moreso than it was a year ago.

Perhaps your getting me confusing with someone else? My mother was a writer and accountant lol. She has a habit of not filtering what she says, which makes for funny, and occasionally offensive times.

I'm sure that Barbossa and other ship captains from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies had colored people's perception of your uniform, but again, the uniform does not seem too far off from historical accuracy.

You downplay yourself a tad too much, I think. It's obvious when you get a good photographer or videographer to take your picture, your full potential just shines through. Be confident about yourself and your cosplays will be even better. :)

You're right. I think I mixed you up with someone else. Derp. But, your modeling is improving.

I think it's historically accurate, but only for a very elite crowd. It would be quite rare to see a pirate in that sort of dress (though not impossible), since most of them weren't that rich.

But see, I don't think that's my potential shining through, I think it's the magic of good photography that makes me look better than I actually am :P I'm not a very confident person, but i'm sure i'll get there someday.

Ah, well, thank you!

Don't forget the privateers of those days. Even though they were authorized by the country that hired them, they might as well be pirates. I'm sure there were more well-dressed captains on those ships.

If you didn't have a good presence and good cosplays, you wouldn't be able to work with as many photographers/videographers.

I saw another pic of your Napoleon cosplay. When you hold a cutlass, you need to hold it palm facing down. :)

I supposeee....

Well that might be so, but I also think I've gotten lucky when it comes to meeting photographers.

I'm aware of how to hold it properly, but unfortunately holding it palm down forced the jacket sleeves to twist and look somewhat terrible. I ended up just holding it improperly for hall shots, since I didn't have any other choice :(
